12 Strangers

This woman's name is Laurie Arnie, and was the only stranger I encountered who didn't love Philadelphia. She's lived here for 10 years now, and is thinking about moving. She had a child with her who she entertained with an ipod-implanted stroller. Laurie doesn't like Philadelphia now because she feels like it is deteriorating and says "the school systems are terrible...terrible." One thing she does like about Philadelphia, however is the cultural aspect.
Anastasia, from Russia, is here in Philadelphia visiting friends. She loves the city so far, especially the architecture and history. One thing she doesn't like is "the trash in the streets."
This man, Mark, didn't really want to talk to me - maybe he was in a hurry. But he held is breath long enough for me to take his photograph and find out that he's lived here his whole life, loves Philadelphia and hates nothing about the city. Mark said what he likes about Philadelphia is "just living life" and as he walked away he said, "Oh and Obama's President" with a big smile.
Fred currently resides in Philadelphia, and loves it. He went to Temple University for his undergrad in History. Fred loves the fact that Philadelphia is such a walkable city and hates trying to find parking.
Ashley was just stretching during a break from her run when I stopped to talk to her. She lives in Philadelphia, loves it, especially the great areas for running and she likes to be able to leave her house and "just wander for hours." Ashley also hates the parking.
This is Mary with her granddaughter and they were enjoying the weather taking a walk by boathouse row. Mary is originally from here and has moved back here since moving away to D.C. She loves how Philadelphia is so walkable and she loves the museums.
This is James Seward. He was just stretching when I talked to him. He loves to walk and jog around the Art Museum area of Philadelphia. James lives in Philadelphia and loves it. He would like to fish, but in general he feels that the city has been making rapid improvements.
Holly Siemens is a student at Drexel University and loves Philadelphia. She loves its walkable quality and Philadelphians' kindness to pedestrians, however is bothered by rude drivers.
Ruth Abrahams lives in Bala Cynwood and loves Philadelphia. Her favorite aspect of the city is the Museum of Art and her least is cheesesteaks.
Jeffery Devers lives in Philadelphia and teaches multimedia art at UARTS. He like the city "alright," especially old and wooded parts of Philadelphia. Jeffery does not like the noise of the city.
Ini lives in East Falls but works in Philadelphia as a Nanny. She loves Philadelphia for its theatre, arts, and culture. Her least favorite thing about the city is the crime.
Anonymous, (she did not want to tell me her name,) is visiting from New Jersey and likes Philadelphia, especially since she found parking at the museum. She likes the universities and the art museum the best and greatly dislikes the traffic on 1-95.
